About the Event

SynBio Lab Cycle

From June to August, we will begin our lab cycle focused on the design, behavior, and deployment of biosensors using synthetic biology.

A bacterial biosensor detects specific components in a medium by triggering a biological circuit in response to an external stimulus (e.g., the presence of metals like Lead or Cadmium).

Cycle Objectives

  • Understand the fundamentals of conditional transcription and transcription factors.
  • Study reference papers on GFP and bioluminescence systems in model organisms.
  • Integrate this knowledge into refining the computational system behind AURA-Bio.

This multi-month cycle will provide participants with direct tools that impact the Sustainable Development Goals.
